Automotive Diagnostics

RevOBD2

macOS · iPadOS

OBD-II vehicle diagnostics with live gauges, trouble codes, and module data. Learn more.

Which adapters work with RevOBD2?

RevOBD2 works with Bluetooth Low Energy and classic Bluetooth OBD-II adapters, including the OBDLink MX+ and CX and common ELM327-compatible dongles. On iPadOS, classic (MFi) adapters such as the OBDLink MX+ must first be paired in the iPad's Settings → Bluetooth. Some features that need a second vehicle bus (for example, Ford MS-CAN) require an adapter that supports it, such as the OBDLink MX+.

How does the trial and unlock work?

RevOBD2 is free to download and fully functional for a 7-day trial. After the trial, a one-time purchase unlocks the app permanently. On the App Store the purchase is a universal unlock: buy once and it applies to both your Mac and your iPad when signed in with the same Apple ID. Use "Restore Purchases" if an unlock doesn't appear on a device.

Can I try it without a car or adapter?

Yes. Turn on Demo Mode in Settings and choose the "Demo Adaptor" in the connect screen to explore live gauges, trouble codes, and module data using a simulated vehicle. No hardware required.

The adapter won't connect.

Check that Bluetooth is on and the adapter is powered (plugged into the OBD-II port with the ignition in the run position). On iPadOS, pair classic/MFi adapters in Settings → Bluetooth first, then pull to refresh the device list in the app. If it still fails, try the adapter with the engine running, and email us a diagnostic export (Settings → Export Diagnostic Data).

Is my vehicle data private?

Yes. All data RevOBD2 reads (VIN, trouble codes, live readings, logs, module info) stays on your device and is never transmitted to us or anyone else. See our Privacy Policy.

Which platforms are supported?

macOS and iPadOS. The gauge editor and the local automation (MCP) interface are macOS-only features.

Where are my server credentials kept?

Connection details you enter are stored only on your device and are used only to connect to the servers you configure. Transfers go directly between your machine and your servers; nothing passes through us.

My docks disappeared after an update or restart.

Dock configurations are stored locally on your Mac and normally survive updates. If a dock goes missing, email us with your macOS and Dock-It versions and we'll get you sorted out.
