Requirements
macOS 13+
RevOBD2 requires a supported OBD-II adapter:
| Adapter | Protocol | Performance |
|---|---|---|
| OBDLink MX+ ↗ | Bluetooth | 4/5 |
| OBDLink CX ↗ | BLE | 3.5/5 |
| OBDX Pro ↗ | Bluetooth, USB, WiFi | 4/5 |
| Dragy OBD II ↗ | BLE | 1.5/5 |
Compatible
Every standard OBD-II CAN variant, plus manufacturer-specific diagnostics.
- Standard OBD-II All four CAN variants of ISO 15765-4: 11-bit and 29-bit IDs, at 500 and 250 Kbaud.
- GM diagnostics Global A, classic HS GMLAN (11-bit), and Global B, later 29-bit UDS, on the same 500 kbit HS bus. Includes an extensive GM PID library.
- Ford diagnostics UDS diagnostics on select Mustang models. Includes an extensive Ford PID library.
Fast
RevOBD2 sizes up your car and adapter, then engages the fastest path they support. You never pick a mode.
- UDS streaming On supported vehicles, the ECU broadcasts your selected channels continuously, at rates a polling app cannot reach.
- Adapter-side polling With OBDLink-class adapters, the polling loop runs inside the adapter's firmware, cutting per-request Bluetooth latency.
- Optimized polling Everywhere else, batched and pipelined requests with per-gauge refresh tiers.
Streaming rates vary by vehicle platform and are enabled per verified vehicle profile. Adapter-side polling requires an STN-based adapter such as the OBDLink MX+ or CX. Every vehicle gets optimized polling as the baseline.
Live data
Watch your engine in real time, your way.
- Gauges Galore Beautiful analog dials and digital readouts, laid out however you like. Everything redraws as fast as your car can send it.
- Chart view Plot your channels over time instead of reading them off a gauge. Recorded sessions open here too, including CSVs from Omatach.
Customizable
Shape the app around your car, not the other way around. If the gauge or the parameter you want isn't there, build it.
- PID editor Define and save your own parameters, or import existing PID CSV files.
- Gauge editor Design your own gauges to look exactly how you want, with a live preview as you work.
- AI ready RevOBD2 ships with an embedded MCP server, so Claude or any MCP-capable assistant can talk to your car. Ask why the check-engine light is on, say “log boost and AFR while I do a pull,” or describe the gauge you wish you had and watch the AI design it, preview it, and put it on your dashboard once you approve.
Full diagnostics
Everything your car will tell you, not just the basics.
- Trouble codes Stored, pending, and permanent, with full SAE descriptions. See which ECUs are reporting faults, then clear them when you're ready.
- Emissions and identity Monitor readiness before inspection, plus VIN, ECU calibration IDs, and gasoline/diesel detection.
- Mode $06 On-board test results with min/max thresholds, the same data technicians use to catch failing sensors before they set a code.
- OBD console Talk straight to the ECU. Send raw commands, see exactly what comes back and how long it took, and run batch scripts for repeat work.
